Basically the same as the last Gathering: We are considering the following activities, and are looking for ideas.
- A variation of the old sawdust - dig for pennies and nickels. Find coins, and either round-tuit’s or wooden nickels that are tokens for grab-bag prizes. For the Kids.
- Something to do with Golf and with Frisbees - - like Frisbee Golf!!
- Horseshoes. For all ages.
- Who is the Oldest, Youngest, Farthest, etc.
- Prize Drawings - do you have Christmas presents you need to re-gift? Bring them.
- We have one Go-Cart (it’s a two seater). If anyone has one - they can bring it if they like.
- Anyone into RC cars? We have the terrain. Boats? We have a 1 acre pond. Planes? Might be enough clear space to make it worth giving it a try.
- Anyone good at balloon animals? The kids would love it.
- I wanted to get some chickens and ducks to make it feel more like a country farm but so far the wife has nixed that idea.
- Genealogy - collecting stories, information and photo’s for our genealogy web site.(If Paul can make it up from Virginia). If you have old photo’s and know who is in them, family memoirs, etc. Please consider bringing them for additions to the dalenberg.info family genealogy site. We have a scanner so can make copies.
We have a decent size rear paved patio area (for those who need to stay close to the loo (we have two bathrooms), and will set up one of those 10 x 20 car cover tent contraptions in the rear yard as well. We also have plenty of room in the house in case it rains. (with a hot tub in the basement if anyone want’s to take a plunge - just bring a suit - no skinny dipping! If you let your kids jump in I only ask that they be supervised.)
We have several large folding tables and a couple of patio tables with chairs so we should have plenty
We will probably ask everyone to bring a dish to pass if they can. We will furnish hot dogs, hamburgers, brats, chicken and perhaps steaks (depending on the budget).
We have a couple of large of tables and should have room for everyone. The only thing be may need is a few extra chairs.
We have plenty of coolers and will have them filled with ice. We will have some soda’s, beer and wine but probably not enough for everyone for the entire day, so if you expect to drink more than a couple you might want to bring some and expect to share them.
We should have at least two propane grills and a couple of extra propane tanks. I will not hog the cooking duties and will gracefully let anyone who wants take a spell at the grill.
I will make sure that everything on the property that can be mowed has been mowed for those who may just want to take a nice walk. (for those who haven’t been out here, we are on about 26 acres.)
We will accept small donations to help cover expenses.
If you have ideas or suggestions, or just want to volunteer perhaps, just give me a call. Leonard (aka Buddy) Dalenberg at 269.683.0489. Or email at leonard@dalenberg.org.
Thanks,
